Jordyn Romero is an award-winning documentary and commercial director specializing in helping purpose-driven brands tell powerful, globally resonant stories

With a focus on character-driven narratives, she explores themes of womanhood, identity, and human resilience, creating impactful work that connects on an emotional level. Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Santa Fe, Jordyn earned her BFA in Documentary Filmmaking from Chapman University. She has directed internationally for brands such as Patagonia, Salomon, The North Face, Oakley, and Specialized.

 

Her acclaimed film, We Are Like Waves (2022), tells the story of one of the first female surfers in Sri Lanka. The film achieved distribution by The Los Angeles Times, received awards at numerous festivals, and propelled Jordyn to be recognized as an Oscar-Qualifying director. Her other documentaries, Of the Sea (2019), Ability (2021), and Beyond Normal (2024) have taken home numerous Best Director and Best Film awards at festivals worldwide with distribution on Amazon Prime, The Surfer's Network, NowThis, and Outside TV.

 

She isn't afraid to get her hands on a camera either - whether submerged in pumping surf or trekking through remote locations with a backpack filled with camera gear, beacon, and electrolytes.
